Russ: I built an S841-MHX for my bait rod this winter and I love it !!! I also use Sabiki rigs and find that this works well for me . I can feel a very light bite and it has the back bone for the unexpected & added weight. It has paid for its self the first 2 trips at the price of bait - I will build me a back up when I get the time. Tight Lines Bill

Russ I have fished here in Florida for over 40 years and have been building rods for only half that time. I have my share of Dolphin trips. I was just trying to put out a thought about rod failure and your reputation as a custom builder, but sir you seem to have the answers to your own questions . I will gladly take you out for the Running of the Bulls - run and gun -with your bass rod

Just a thought How deep is the ocean and how deep is your average lake ? Common Cents Info. @ the top of the page. A Dorado may take a 30 foot rapid dive where as a bass might take a 10 foot dive . Which rod would I choose?? Well the one that is designed for the depth and rapid line peeling speed of the Dolphin, a couple ozs.of weight is better than a catastrophic failure as a Custom Rod Builder

If your customer is going to fish for IFGA records I would sit down with him and go to their websight and ask for the specs. for the rods you decide on and then build to them. As if the record is caught but not on the right specs...... both you and your customer would be heart broken...You for not building the record catching rod and him for missing the chance of a lifetime. Aaron: Maybe you have oil from your skin that is touching the thread? Clean hands might do the trick . You can't be too clean . Or add one more coat of C.P. It seems like you are packing enough every 3 turns. Tight Lines Bill

Size A is enough for an under wrap. And if you do the underwrap in the opp. direction you will not have any problens packing or threads cutting into the bottom underwraps. I use the C or D for the over wrap. Tight Lines Bill

Mark: I have used Diamondite on a salt water rod, butt and fore girps, I built last summer and have fished it all fall and most of the winter ( a little colder to hold on really cold days , but I live in florida and it is not too bad ) . It has Andy's burl cork . I like it. It is not slick, it has held up well to use and cleans up with soap & water. I will do this again for my rods.

Bill: I like to stick with the regular nylon thread. I found a few spools of some kind of sewing thread and was playing around with it today and found that I got three diffrent colors from the same spool . cp- no cp- and a silver under wrap. Three totaly diffrent colors than the dry spool. Test it before you put it on a good rod blank. But it don't hurt to experment. I found a real nice bric
