Hey I'm having some trouble getting the 10 guide spacing right on a 9'0", 5wt, 4pc, sig V. It is the first rod I've built for a friend and he is several inches taller than me, about 6'2". The stripper guide is throwing me off, I think. Will someone please give me a spacing I can work with. Thanks for any feedback!!!

Im building a 9 foot, 5 weight, Sig V, 4 peice. Would it be bad if I put the guides on the straightest part of the blank instead of puting them on the less straight spline of the blank. Thanks for any responses

I am debating between several fly rod blanks to build on for 2 beginning fisherman. I have built on dan craft blanks in the past which I personally love. I was thinking that a beginner may have trouble casting a sig V or FT. I want a 9 foot, 5 wt, 4 pc. Please give me some suggestion on some other blanks that you guys love? Thanks

I just finished a 4 wt sig V and noticed there is a slight wobble in the grip or reel seat. I thought i did everything correct. I started by using a scotchbrite pad to make a rough surface, then used a generous amount of rod bond and let it dry for 24 hours before i even touched it. Will the problem get worse over time or will it just stay the same? Is there any way to fix it with out startin

My cousin has a birthday coming up; his father in law just called me and asked if I would build him a custom fly rod, I was honored to have this opportunity. In the past I have only built for myself. I have fished with him several times and he is an experienced fly fisherman, no beginner. On several occasions he has mentioned how much he loves the feel of the Winston WT, and that he needs a knew

So far I have only built traditional fly rods. I was thinking about building a spinning rod to use on my anual backpacking trip into the cascades, to be used for lake rainbow trout 8-13inches. how would the Rainshadow RX6 (4 or 5 peice) fly blanks be for this. Also, should I go with the 2 or 4 weight? Just casting small spoons and spinners. Thanks for any input or other rod suggestions.

For my first rod I ordered a 8'4" 4 weight 3 piece sig v from dan, along with single foot wire guides. He only gave me 9 guides (10 with the tip). The only spacing he gave me is a 10 guide spacing. Does anyone have a good 9 guide spacing for this rod....just something I can start out with to test. thanks

I have a store which makes decals neer my home in gig harbor, WA; they have made several for my truck to put in my back window. I was wondering if this type of decal that only has the letters, w/out the clear backing would work on custom rods. that is....would they be too bulky to cover with finsh....I've only used gel pens in the past. Has anyone used this type?

to finish the guide wraps on a black rod with black thread, would you suggest using permagloss before FC lite, or just a few coats of FC lite by itself?

I have a 8'4" 4 weight Sig V single foot wire guides, to be used for western river trout fishing with multiple nymph set-ups, dries, and emergers. A lot of it will be up close casting that requires very delicate presentation. Can you guys recomend a good line for this

I would like to use a broken rod, but unfortunately (or fortunately) I dont have any laying around. If someone has one they could give me I'd be more than happy to take it off their hands. I'm not sure what type of grit to use, you all seem to have your own opinions; The tape sounds good but the tip comes off, and the grit sounds good but can scratch the blank. So.......... I'll have to think abo

I am new to rod building and I want to make some reamers. Can you guys suggest a specific rod blank to cut up that would be suitable for reaming cork for fly rods from 3-8 weights. And also the best grit to use on these blanks. Thanks! Just something Dirt Cheap

I am new to rod building. I just purchased a Dan Craft Sig V 894-3. I am just starting to wrap it with single foot wire guides, do you guys recomend a locking wrap like the forhan, or is it overkill. Also can you recomend any spacing to start out with on this particular rod. Just so I can work on perfecting placement. Thanks

has anyone ever heard of or made a magnet powered rod dryer? By using the natural force to spin the rod chuck? Just curious. Though it may be a cool idea.
