Yup, I just finished the 8'6" 5wt. It's a very nice rod. Very smooth from tip to butt and quite accurate. I cast it next to my Sage one and the MHX Native has more feel, especially in close. At about 25' it's very accurate with the tip doing the work. Phil. Is a thin coat of high-vis epoxy just made by letting the epoxy set for a few more minutes before applying? And would that be the first coat of epoxy on the thread?

Ben, this is a 9' 8 weight fly rod. Interesting about the load per guide you were talking about! I just used Rainshadow's recommendations of guide spacing for the Eternity 2. There are 10 guides + tip top. The cracking is happening on my 10th guide, the sz 16 stripper which is 12" away from the 9th guide, a size 12 stripper. Guide spacing below. Yes, I wanted clear wraps on my second build anyway so I skipped the CP on the mhx native. We'll see how it does

Billy, thanks again. With this being my first rod, there are many imperfections with it so this cracking doesn't sting as bad. Looking at my factory rods, I should probably be epoxying more around the end of the guide foot under the ring than I did. I guess it's possible the guide feet are moving in and out of their hold because of this too. Ben, this rod is less than 3 months old and has only

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Yes I used CP on these wraps... going forward is it a bad idea to continue using CP? I just finished my 2nd build and thankfully didn't use CP. Any solutions now that it's on there? Should I layer one more coat of epoxy?

New to rod building here, and after fishing my first build for a few months my stripping guides have started creasing the epoxy. Hope these pictures work. Are the stripping guide feet too large?
