Thanks, I like their black NCP, I have a spool here that is almost done and when epoxied it goes like a very dark midnight blue color.

Get some 18 year old Macallan Phil that's really good stuff at 200 or more a bottle, I don't drink, but seeing as I won the bet I think huge steak would do me.
It seems the majority of people I have spoken to agree the rubberized ring as a trim is the most popular. Your comment about the length of the cork with no trim I agree. I have a 15 foot 10/11 wt Spey rod I built a quite a few years ago

Hi
I am having a discussion with another rod builder about the Spey cork, my opinion is the cork grips with the burl trim is more popular than just the plane cork grips, it looks richer and dresses up the rod very nicely.
There must be guys out there that build Spey rods, what's your opinion. I also feel, my opinion again that the rod becomes a little more valuable when built going the extr

I figured out what they, junk for sure. They are part of a reel seat but not wasting anymore time on my part or the guys on the forum trying to find an answer, off to the garbage can.
Thanks to all who had ideas

I have these "things" for reel seats. The are 4.5 inches long, plastic/graphite material and have a thread and a groove like for a channel lock hood for 60% of the length. On one end that does not have threads they have a cut out about 1/8" wide and 1.5 inches long. I showed them to a friend of mine who knows about reel seats and he has not a clue what these are for. I guess I cant

Funny I found one of the honey colour in Calgary a few years ago and still have it, it has the spigot ferrule and is a great rod to build up for a beach caster for the great lakes. I believe the age is around mid 80's, maybe wrong but that's my guess

I read the epoxy mixer you run it for 4 minutes and the finish is mixed and bubble free. Will this work with high build and with a 4 minute mix still give you time to apply the finish on every guide on say a 12 foot rod. If it does I am getting one for sure. Heard about them but never used one or though about it before reading this post.

The part you are looking for is a Weibi reel seat. Loomis used them on their factory rods and now they are extinct, except I know a guy who has a few of them, he has the hood and the barrels and they even say Loomis on them. PM me and I will see what I can do to get what you need from him-----may take a mickey of Rum--joking. I got one from him and did a custom barrel for one of my Steelhead rods

The cork drills are the spade bits made by Flexcoat, they work great but follow the instructions and go half way through the grip and then turn the bit around.

20. Re: Reamers
Thanks for the information, always appreciate the help. I use the grit reamers before and out of all the rods I did I only gouged one with a piece of grit stuck in the cork, and that's one to many. I got some 60 grit emery 1" wide and tore it down the middle and it works fine. I will use the contact cement for this.

21. Reamers
I read somewhere to refit the dream reamers with new emery you use rod bond, is it the 10 minute of the longer drying type, is there an alternative. I got some 60 grit to refit them.
Thanks

I can try that first trimming the lump off and if I do damage I can wrap the guide again, funny thing is the rod is mine and not for someone else so maybe just leave it and let the grandkids use it. Some good ideas and problem solving and I appreciate your time to answer my questions.

High build is thick, but when first mixed is easy to work with. When it was applied it was nice and even and then clipped on the dryer, when it was dry I saw the lump.

Well lots of options to consider. The rods turn on a 6 clip dryer, 2 round plywood drums with 6 clips on each. The motor is a DC variable speed with V belt drive, the dryer is perfectly level and the power didn't go off or the clocks would be out of wack. I run the dryer before at the speed I got the lump and this is the first time, this lump is from the start of the wrap to the end at the guide

Hi there
I have read posts about the lump on one side of the guide once the epoxy finish has dried. I have read different reasons on other sites and it is confusing. Can someone help me out with the reason this happens, it looks like a tumor on the side.
Thanks for any help I sure do appreciate it. This is the site to get the right answer I am sure.
