Here lately I have been having a tough go reaming cork grips. I am using a Batson dream reamer with a power drill. Starting out small and working my way up to the desired diameter and come to find that one end is out of center. I have tried drilling a little and turning the grip 90 degrees every so often. Still not working. Ruining cork and hurting the wallet. What am I doing wrong? These are

How to you keep your cork grips inside diameter centered when reaming? I am using the CRB reamers from Mud Hole attached to a drill. I will ream a little bit and turn the cork a quarter turn each time and ream a little more. I am not getting an even inside diameter near completion. What am I doing wrong? I have tried using drill bits to starting small and increasing the diameter until I get cl

I need to know how to determine which inside diameter I need for my rod blank. Is the inside diameter based on the back of the seat or the front of the seat? I know where I want to locate the reel seat based on my other components, just need to know which location to take the measurements. Thanks.

I am sure this has probably been addressed, but curious on how others square their wraps to the blank when wrapping a guide.

Still not sure about pulling the trigger, but thinking about selling custom rods. How do you handle rod warranties? I know that the blank mfg's have a warranty for the blanks. Other than the guides and blank you would have to rebuild the rod. How do other handle this?

Yes, Jim I am here in Mobile. I am friends with Bobby and Richard. I am in the ACFA. I helped David and Bruce do the weigh-in at the first BOG. I have been repairing reels and rods since becoming disabled. That's how Richard and I became friends. Have done a few spinning rods lately and need help on this caster. I misplaced my build sheets from previous rods. I will come and introduce myself

Have not made a casting rod in a while using K series guides. This is a 7ft 3in. From the butt to the center of the reel seat measures 13 inches. What would be the best distance to the stripper guide?

Mark, I apologize. Was not trying to offend in any way. Not my intent. I appreciate all comments. Very new to this forum and trying to learn from others. It's just I have not had this happen before, was in panic mode, and surely was hoping others have had this problem and could offer a solution. Again, thanks for the input.

What do you use to clean a blank before applying epoxy finish and after drying before delivery? I am new to the forum. Sorry if this has been brought up before.

I guess this kinda got off kilter a little. I guess making light of the situation is good medicine. This is an inshore rod. In place of me heating the marks and blank, I am going place a fish measuring mark and a speckled trout decal. Minimum size in Alabama is 14" and the prints fall just below that. Will scuff the prints, clean, and fininsh. We'll see how it turns out. Thanks for the inp

Evidently my grandson got in my room last night touched a rod I was finishing. The guide I can fix, but the cured finger prints are a problem. It is a glossy finish rod. I have tried de-natured alcohol and acetone with no results. If it was my rod I would let it ride, but is a customer build. I am sure someone has had this issue?

Thanks, Matthew and Spencer. I am definitely a newbee to this concept. Thanks. Spencer, would you use the 45 degree jig on weighting and bending the top section of the rod? Matthew, I would like to learn more about doing a spiral wrap on a build. Where can I find setting (I guess angles) and spacing of guides?

New to this method on casting rods. Used to just following the recommended spacing by rod length. Building a 7 foot Rainshadow RX6 SP842 casting rod. I have the stripper guide (size 10) to a reduction guide (size 6) to the running guides (size 5.5) to a matching tip. I made a jig to support the rod at 45 degrees. I placed my stripper at 22.5 inches from the face of a baitcasting reel and the fi
