I've been trying to find a Snub nose half-wells grip for my next 6wt build with no success. This is the style that Sage uses on most of their freshwater rods Do you guys know of anyone that makes and sells them?

Hello,
I’m building my 2nd 4-piece fly rod and was wondering the correct/best way to apply the epoxy/thread finish to the ferrules. On my last 4-piece I epoxied each section separately and used one of the CRB rod extenders. I did it this way because I didn’t want to risk epoxying the sections together. But with a single-rod rod dryer it basically took me a week to finish the rod. So, what

Thanks for all the input on this. I think I'll be going with the Rainshadow RX6 9' 6 wt 4 pc kit from Hook and Hackle. $79.63 with free shipping. I started to add up all the other options and after shipping cost they were all over $100. Some were probably worth the extra money but at the end of the day I'm not the one fishing with it. :-)

Thanks Norm! Frankly I don't really think it matters. 2 or 4 piece and 8'6" or 9' would be fine. Really just the run of the mill fly r

Hello,
An old friend from college and I are doing a trip out to Montana to fish the Big Horn for a few days. I’m toying with the idea of building him a rod for the trip. If it were any other friend I’d just tell him to go to the local fly shop and buy an Echo Base for $90 and be done with it. But he’s the kind of guy that would appreciate a custom rod….. even if it’s not as good as a store

OK, musky season is around the corner and I guess I better get this rod built. Here’s what I have loaded in my cart to order. Do you guys have any recommended changes? I’m sort of concerned with the jump from a #16 stripper down to a #4 snake? Should I bridge that gap somehow? Anyways, let me know your thoughts. Thanks for the help.

There will be a “true” 2-handed rod added to the arsenal at some point, probably a 1

Hello,
I’ve been trolling this forum for a few months now so figured I sign up and get some opinions on my next build. On Black Friday I ordered up one of the 8’10” 11wt 1-piece MHX blanks for next to nothing. In the world of Musky Fly Fishing, the 1-piece rod is the holy grail…. well at least it is to me. You can’t really find them under $800 or $900 retail. So here are a couple of my buil
