If anyone with good knowledge to St.Croix can tell me what models these burgundy gloss blanks that came available here in 2012 could be, would be highly appreciated. 9'-4 pieces. Got them in weight 6-9, but I think they were lower too. They are not coated on the ferrules, wonder if they should be like this or if they are seconds?
If you also could check out this site below and give an opinion

I'm definitely gonna stick to them. I've got several sets of the burgundy left. Built one for my cousin before this season. He really liked it. My dad built one of his own, it has turned out to be his favorite rod. I had a plan to build a stealth rod this winter. Blank, grip, reelseat, guides, wraps in all black. And when I entered the St.Croix homepage, what did I see? The Legend X! Wow what a b

You know when you get one of those a-ha experiences.. The time when your head suddenly has a bright moment and file all information you gather into the same file, not just because their related but same case - just different names.. Well I'll get to the point:
1) My first build was a burgundy no name blank I got for christmas a few years back. I later found out that this was supposed to be the

I guess for decorative wrappings you can use whatever you have laying around. I've used a lot of stuff from my fly tying chest myself. And even thin copper thread. Never used sewing thread though, anyone know what size to use there too align to the Gudebrod size A?

I read that article when I joined the forum and was stunned. Beautiful grip! But unfortunately the advice was to harvest the birch around spring time for best result or I would definitely start the project asap. I would prefer to use a UV-resistant sealant on the grip. But I haven't searched for the the right product. Not sure if we got that Tru-Oil here

Found this in the library.

The load is not at the bottom at all times. Remember that both during spey and overhand casting you load the rod 90-180 degrees from the guides. This is what makes ferrules slip and the rings to become mis-aligned. Especially in spey casting where you set up an anchor in the water. Yes I know twist is a function of guide orientation, that's correct. Some people try to align this by twisting the h

Thanks for the response. So this is old school related to the fiberglass rods and has then been transferred to the modern rods? Makes sense. I've always mounted the guides 90 degrees from the spine. This is how I learned the craft. This was very important in order to prevent the rod from twisting, especially whilst fighting salmon. But also in the cast. If I don't need to focus on this anymore, g

Is the Spine Finder (ex. MudHole) really a helpful tool or a hype? The reason I ask is bc I have used the traditional method on my fly rods and some pieces has been hard to locate the spine on. If this tool is accurate and a time saver I won't hesitate adding one to my setup.
