most of the time you can tell what caused the rod to break. if its abuse there are usually the tell tale signs of scratches of nick on the blank, when i see this my warranty is void, i dont fix abused rods, they are told when they buy them "abuse and break it i wont fix it", most people only treat store bought rods badly anyway, most likely that was a flawed rod jesse,

i love this thread and have tied 4 rods using the blue and silver, it holds up very well and looks great, i like using it in combination with the same colors in regular metallic for even better result in butt wraps and it comes in size A and D

i just got off the phone with st croix and they dont make the blank i need anymore i need the g170lm or something equivalent, which the specs are 7' spinning 1/8-3/8 lure 6-12lbs line mod action and light power please help

i ordered a set to build, havent got the set yet but i talked with a fellow fisherman who has used the guides and know wants to change over all the guides to the flexiltes on all his rods, so i think they and very decent, and a really good deal

most of the time these curves will straighten out when you coat the whole blank in flexcote.

go with the gator glass blank or the seeker ps90. i have built several of the seekers and its a good pier rod for tossing live bait or cobia jigs but not for tossing anything over 12oz. and i also use perfection guides which are also superb.

i just finished a rod using all metallics, the gudebrod blue and silver ht holographics look really really good and i have tied 4 rod off one spool of the blue, 2 light spinning, 1 cobia rod, and one 50lbs trolling rod so i wouldnt call that to expensive, and yeah you can go over it with nylon if ya want

the constant flexing and pulling of the guides on a rod that size. you should use two wraps to ensure the guides stays put, i have had a couple of trolling blanks i tied when i first started building rods come back due to guides pulling away from the blank due to only one wrap, when i consulted a veteran builder she informed me that it was a must on all rod rated over 20lbs. so i can only explain
