Reel size is a zee baas 25. Spool size is 2.5" and I use 50lb braid. The rod is a 10''6" century nor'easter. The reduction guides are the new Fuji rv guides. They are pretty tall, the 25 ring size is 55mm tall I believe. After watching the video Matthew provided I see what you mean about letting the line path dictate size and will certainly put that to good use. I also read yo

It is a spinning rod. I was under the impression that with the ngc and k guides smaller rings are better. I don't believe the even make these guides in a ring size larger then 25. If I am misinformed please correct me. Thanks for the video. I will definetly try that method of sizing the guides.

I am building a surf 10'6 surf rod and pairing it with a zee baas 25 with braided line. I was planning on doing a ngc layout using fuji rv reduction guides followed by kw running guides. Was planning on using a size 20 - 16 - 12 reduction with 10 runniing guides, but I'm now questioning my sizing on the reduction train. Should I have gone with a size 25 stripper or will the 20 be large enough

Thanks for the response. That does look like it will work, however it looks to be a little light for a surf rod. Have you used these in the past for this application? Also the ring size is one smaller then what I am using as running guides 8 vs 10 . Would this pose a problem?

I am building a surf rod on a 10'6 Century Blank. Model is NE1265. I am using fuji KW titanium/torzite guides with KR reverse foot reduction guides. However, I can not locate a fuji titanium / torzite tip top that will work. The tip of the blank is a size 8 and I have been unsuccessful in finding anything with that tube size. The largest I have found is a 6. I can get a titanium / SIC

It will be used mostly in the surf for striped bass and blue fish. Majority of the time will be using artificial lures, but would like to be able to use bait with it on the rare occasion I want to. Will be putting a vs200 on it and using k style Fuji concept guides. Thank you for the input.

Looking to build my first surf rod and I am in need of some guidance as to which blank to purchase. I have it narrowed down to a St. Croix 4SRS106MHMF2 1-6 oz 10'6 and and a Lamiglas GSB120-1L 2-4 oz 10'. I am also open to other suggestions, not opposed to spending a little money to get a good blank. I am leaning more towards the St. Croix, but It is only available in a two piece. Have any

Her and her family are the reason I got into fishing. I never held a fishing rod before I met her. She'll spend all day on the water and even bait her own hook.

Hey. New to the forum and to rod building. Just built my first Rod and finished the wraps, was looking for some feedback. It's a 6'6 fluke jigging Rod for my wife. Let me know what you all think.
