You could wrap masking tape around it so it fits inside a pvc pipe to help keep it 90 degree vertical on a drill press or table .

Make test strips first .... Were the two colors come together ,you may try a couple drops of thinner and work it . If you are mixing the paint in the epoxy than i would try to push /pull the colors and blend together for a fade joe

I have used nail polish to fill in the spaces on a open diamond wrap , with good results. Also to stencil my logo. I want to try a marble with polish, i think you can get a more of a 3d effect and see through effects.
