I'm building a 5'6" ultra light trout rod. I'm using an MHX S661 blank (5'6" UL, 0.28 butt ) With a Winn MHX split grip. Never built a split grip before. Trying to figure out how many and what size winding checks I need Thanks Dave

I'm new to rod building, so I've been watching instructional videos . For some reason I can't seem to get the guide wraps tight enough and close enough together. I'm using Pro Wrap Color Fast in size "D" Thanks Dave

I used to have a couple Lew's Speed Sticks. Your right they were awesome grips. Probably the nicest rods I ever fished with. Great idea. I'll look around. Thanks Dave

The streams here in western Pa. are mostly narrow and brushy. That's why I always have used a shorter rod, and I use spinners, not bait. I actually want to design my own rod. I guess as a challenge to myself. The kits are great, but I want learn how to select and build, not just assemble I appreciate all the feedback and will gather in all the info and ideas. Thanks Dave
