Howzit guys, I do a lot of epoxy marbling and I often get request for light color's, the blanks I use are black so I've been mixing a batch of epoxy, adding white or light color pigment and applying a base coat before doing the actual marbling. This proses is time consuming and uses a lot of epoxy, have any of you tried any quicker drying primer to apply under the section to be marbled that's

Howzit, I have a friend that asked me if i could make two of his trolling rods shorter.. going from 6ft to 4ft. I know i cant cut 2 ft off the tip because that would destroy the action of the blank. I am thinking i could cut the rod off at the trolling butt, move the striper guid and put on a new trolling butt thus shorting the rod and saving the action. Ive not built any rods with trolling

Very good information from everyone. Yes it is warm here. I like to warm up the epoxy before mixing it. Ive noticed i get a better mix with much less bubbles when i warm it before mixing it. I understand now that its not needed, but i also understand that there is a fine line between warming it and heating it. Aloha

could add some white marbling pigment to some low build epoxy and apply that to the areas you plan to cover in the white thread. But packing and CP should be enough.

I'm building a spinning rod for a friend, he just got a Stella 30000 and I'm building a rod to match it. Got the seeker 70H blank Alps seat. He wanted Titanum guides but I could not find double footed Titainum spinning guides so I got the big Titainum casting guides 40,30,20,12,10,10,8. After doing some research it seems I'm not the 1st to do this, but I also noticed that the casting guides

The under wraps were done in silver metallic thread after I pill the thread off the outer metallic stuff is left stuck to the white epoxy under coat. I'm using a fine grit sand paper and gently sanding that away. As long as I don't sand the actual blank this should be ok right?

Looks like the rod got a coat of white epoxy on the blank before the guides were wrapped on. Seems I just nicked the white epoxy. I think that's also why I'm having issues removing the old wraps.

Howzit guys. I had a buddy ask me to repair one of his old Teraz rods. The guide foots are all rusted and the plan is to remove all the old guides and underwraps and put on new guides in the acid wrap style. I researched how to remove old guides and practiced on a old broken rod. When I went to remove the guides on the Teraz I started with the first guide closest to the reel seat. I was able

I often find my rods pressed agents the kayak with lots of force, worried it would mess up the guides on a spiral.

Big thank you to everyone who helped me along the way. This is one of the hardest things i've tried to teach myself. Got well over 40 hours in this, but most of that was doing and redoing and trying to figure stuff out. Its not perfect but it will slay some fish! After much thought i decided not to go with the spiral wrap, Its a cool concept and would work grate on smaller fish less then 2

Been blowing up this form haha. After I finish my two spiral wrap trolling rods, I'd like to make a custom bait catching rod. I catch my bait with a home made sabinki style rig. The rig has 5 hooks on dropper loops a small swivel and a 5 or 6 oz bank sinker. 15-20 pound test line. From the swivel to the sinker is about 10ft. My idea of the best rod for this would be about 8ft to 8.6ft one p

Trying to decide best way to wrap my guides onto my 6.3ft super seeker Hercules 60XH blank. After doing some research I see some recomend doing two layers of sizeA thred for a underwrap and 2 layers on sizeA for over wrap. I'd like to do two layers of sizeA for under wrap and 1 layer sizeA over wrape, folowed by 1 layer sizeD metallic over wrap. Dose this sound about right?
