Kudos to the whole gang for putting on an excellent gathering once again, and thanks to all of the sponsors who help make it possible. The look on the faces of the kids from the rod building class when they won door prizes was priceless, and so were the opportunities to learn from builders like Mark, Roy, and John and tying tips form Herb. The venue was great and there is plenty of room for more

If I understand you correctly the hook scratched through the white finish and the charcoal blank is showing through. I have had good luck touching up white Duckett blanks with thinned Testors model paint, then lightly sanding the repair to level it, and finally coating with epoxy finish.

As Tom mentioned above, Batson has extensive information available including number, size and spacing of guides for many of their blanks. I have found their info to be very accurate and a great starting point.

I have done a couple repairs as Tom suggested using Testor's enamel model paint. It worked very well.

Bill, I had three Duckett rods in for repair this winter and saw the same thing. The fiinsh was brittle and came off pretty easily. I would definitely strip them.

Like Randy said, and the fine glitter looks really good on rods with any sparkle in the rod finish, such as the St. Croix flip finish.

I agree with Joe and often turn my split grips a bit larger than prefabs.

I prefer a full rear grip for two handed casting of larger heavier baits like frogs and large crankbaits , and use split grips for about everything else.

You may be able to hook it with a crochet needle. If you don't have one they are inexpensive.
