Being pretty new to rod building, I was trying to do a build with narrow trim bands and found that I was having trouble getting the leading end of the tread back along the blank or having it stay inside a swizzle stick. I found that for me it's easier to replace the nail with a big needle with a large eye and then put the thread thru the eye and "pull" the thread back under the wraps.

I have built about 7 or 8 rods over the last 3 years. Always used cork kits for handles.
This go round my granddaughter wants me to build one for her boy friend so I'd like to do one
with his school colors in eva in the handle/grip. I've looked at several you tube videos which show
turning eve on a lathe but I need to back up further than that, to the actual inlay process itself.
