Michael:
Many thanks for the info. I was just down in Guatemala and had a blast - caught most of our fish on 12 & 13 wt rods. I agree with you analogy however and will build a 16wt. While down there a boat has a 200# blue marlin on - guy was using a 12wt - and only had the marlin on for 2 minutes.

I am looking for some advise on 2 or 3pc blanks in the sizes above. Can anyone make some good recommendations for me. These will be used for sailfish and blue marlin.
My thanks in advance.

I am seeking advice on the easiest way to put the rod information on the blank. For example: 9' 7wt 5pc built by: XXX
Also what is the easiest way to afix the same information onto an aluminum tube.
I am building a few rods as Xmas presents and would like to afix the info on the rod and the case and I have't done this before and am looking for a simple solution.
Many thanks in advance.

Greetings all. I have built several flyrods to date and wish to build a Spinning Rod in the 6-8 # test range for my 9yr old nephew - he has been fishing for small schoolie bluefish and wants a lighter wt rod. Any suggestions on blanks, reel seats, etc would be most welcome.
Many thanks in advance,
Bailey

I am looking for a reasonably priced lite weight reel seat for a Dan Craft 7'6" rod I am building.
Suggested models and manufacturers would be most welcome.
Thanks,

Bill:
This is exactly what I want to do (make the handle and reel seat out of the same cork). Don't I need the end-cap to keep the rings from falling off? Can you recommend where I can buy the rings and end cap?
Thanks in advance,
Bailey

I am building a 4pc 3wt rod. I will be turning the cork handle and wanted to turn the cork reel seat as well so it will be one complete unit. A couple of questions: 1) does it make sense to do it that way; 2) where can I get reel seat rings (?) and an endcap for the rod.
Hopefully my questions above make sense.
Many thanks in advance.

11. Bamboo Rods
I am interested in learning about the building of Bamboo rods including the splitting of the bamboo to actually from the Rod, etc.
Can anyone recommend a site or book on this topic? I would be intersted in seeing what is involved before I stroll down this slippery slope.
Many thanks in advance,
Bailey

It will be used for small creek fishing (trout), medium action. I would prefer the blank be a 3pc - ideally 4pc since it will be used for backpacking purposes.
Thanks,
Bailey

I am looking for a 3wt, 3pc graphite fly rod blank in 7' or 7' 6" in length. Can anyone recommend a blank under $100?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
