I laid out the rod using 27x and I get a clean reduction train of 30, 20, 16
I will end up test casting/ load testing based on this layout but if anyone has some feedback based on the data I have from the GPS software that would be great. I'm curious how others would treat that situation.
Bill, 29" from reel to stripping guide is to long for an 11' surf rod????

I've started a build of a GSB1321M with a Zee Baas 25 on it. Typically I have used 27x or COF for the spinning/surf rods I have built. I plan to use KW for my reduction and MN's for my running guides. If I go with 30L, 20, 12 as my 3 reduction guides (30L is 29.8" from the reel) it leaves me with roughly 12.5" between the KW12 and my choke point. My distance from my kw20 to kw12 is 8&qu

The second rod I ever built (rebuilt) was a Shimano Trevala that I wanted spiral wrapped. I was shocked to see the guides were well prepped prepped and the bottom 3 guides (size 16) had the underwraps epoxied prior to the guides be wrapped(not sure if this is an advantage but would definitely take longer I would think)

I've seen quite a few spiral wrapped rods with a reversed Fuji MN butt guide. Besides it looking cool, what is the perfomance gain of this? Does it handle stress/load differently?

I am building a SW jigging rod and want to use the FUJI ECS or ACS reel seat. I know the reel fits an ECS 15. For the blank I am using I will need to use a smaller seat than that. Will the hoods be the same size or is it possible it won't fit the reel?
Thanks,
Tom

Hello all, I am new to rod building and building a spiral wrap rod. I just did a tiger wrap on an old fiberglass boat rod I rebuilt.
I was wondering how much would it effect the action of the rod if I did a tiger wrap between the stripper guide and bumper guide, bumper guide and 180 guide, or between both. Instead of doing the wrap on the butt.
Thanks
