I think it would be interesting to know if the music genre relates to the styling of rods built. That is, those who use the latest trim and colors listen to newer music vs those who use more traditional materials and colors listen to music from the past. I happen to prefer classic rock and style my rods with colors and designs from years ago. I don't like the newer 'blingy' components.

I see they have a handle kit that possibly comes in three different versions. There aren't any specs as to dimensions or differences between them. Or am I missing something there? I take it they only sell the kits and not just the seat. EDIT: Never mind. I found them by looking at the on-line catalog. The website doesn't show all the details. I'll have to order a catalog.

The translucent green, blue, or brown blanks look richer and more expensive than common black or gray. The racks at the stores are filled with black and gray.

I've searched around and it seems the Super Sticker seats aren't available anymore. From what I've read about it, it may be way out of my price range anyway. I appreciate the offer for the Lew's/Fuji handles but I already have two of those. I still haven't received a reply from Fuji about the offset in the ESCM seat. The email at Angler's Resource doesn't work either. If I'm understandi

Thanks Mr. Wilson. I already have several old handles that I could refurbish. Netcraft still sells a pistol-grip handle and I actually have two, but they're pretty cheap and generic looking. I was trying to do something a bit more custom. Fuji has the ESCM grip that says it has a 7 1/2deg offset, but it's not clear where the offset is. Some here thought it was in the trigger which wouldn

Does anyone here build rods specifically designed for spincast reels? Most older spincast reels feel like they're sitting too high on the handle when used on a standard blank-through trigger grip. I can't find a source for an offset handle anymore where the blank attached to the front of the handle. The newer spincast reels sit closer to the foot but the older ones were taller and the thumb

Been using the can bottom, full and empty, for years to mix up epoxy glue for small repairs everywhere. Never found anything better. A cold can will slow down the cure time too. I use free 1 oz. cups from the hospital after they've been used for pill dispensing. I got a stash some years ago from someone who worked there. Very handy for measuring weed and bug spray, two-cycle oil, etc.

I understand that lightness is usually good. However, I have several rods with 'normal' guides that also don't flex with whipping, thus my comment. I've been reading up at the sources recommended and I get the concept of narrowing the line path quickly. The rods I'm talking about use all nano guides from the stripper to the tip, holding the line not more than 1/16" above the rod unfle

It wasn't that long ago that it was easy to build a rod of 100% USA-made components. Is it still possible today, or are there some components that aren't available from a domestic manufacturer? Excluding NOS stashes.

I compared the triggers on the Fuji web page and it's hard to see much difference in the angle as none of them are straight, but you may be right. I sent off an email to Fuji asking about it. BTW is there any place that lists the weight of the various seats?

I don't know. All the pictures I've been able to find of it show the same view from the Fuji catalog it seems.

Looking at the Fuji ECSM Exposed Blank Reel Seat. It says "it also features a unique 7.9-degree offset for added comfort". It's not clear to me where this offset is. Initially I was expecting it to be in the grip, that is, angled down like a pistol grip. I'm not picturing how that could work with a through-blank handle though. So it must be elsewhere? If so where?

I happened to browse another tackle shop the other day and saw a few more rods with these tiny guides. Not many though, maybe only 1% of all the rods on the racks. Apparently it's still not too popular around here, at least in factory rods. Whipping the empty rod doesn't even start to flex the blank, but can't tell if it's the blank stiffness or the guide weight. While browsing the line

I saw a completed rod in the tackle shop the other day that appeared, at first glance, to have no guides. My first thought was that it was another through-the-blank design which generally has been a failure due to too much line friction in actual use, not to mention the difficulty threading line through. It was a white blank with white wraps, trigger-grip split handle and split grips. Upon c

I see the IPS real seat from Fuji has an optional trigger attachment. I haven't been able to figure out how it attaches. Does it snap on and off as needed or does it get permanently glued on? I've searched and even the Fuji site doesn't say much about it.
