Hi Marty, Use "A" fie under & over wrap. Lay down your underwraps, apply a coat of epoxy finish then do the overwrap. The reason for the epoxy is so the overwrap does not does not fall down between the underwrap threads. Some people use color preserver instead of epoxy but I found epoxy easier for me.

Hi Marty, If you prep your guides properly you will not need a underwrap.You need to be sure that there are on spurs and anything else that can cause damage to the blank. On almost every saltwater rod we build we do underwraps because we like the looks of them but they are not necessary.

Hi Stanford, I have used Armor All on my rods for years. You can use it on fly line if you don't mind having the color removed from the line. Do not use it on handles because it makes them to slick to hold. No problem with silicone unless you spray aroung your rod building equipment.
