Hi Jason, What type of rod are you building (Spin or conventional)? How long is the rod blank? It maybe that your rear grip will come up far enough so you will not have to ream the reelseat. Fact is you should not have to ream a reelseat. I would say that the reelseat you have maybe to small. One think to check is that you reel will seat properly onto the reelseat. If you have a reelseat

Hi Billy, Unless I'm mistaken that is a drill press attachment you see in your photo not a router attachment. Dremel has a new drillpress attachment. Here is just one link I've found and I'm sure there's more I'm listing the link here because I don't think any of the board sponsers have such items.

Hi Bob, Nice to see you here again. I will shoot you an email in a while. We do a lot of spiral Wrapped rods and call them "Maine's Wicked Twisted" because they're Wicked Good (a little bit of Maine Humor there). Matt, If you have ordered the issues from RodMaker Magazine that cover Sprial Wraps that is a very good start. As far as using a simple sprial vs a (so called) re

Hi Josh, The info the above gents have given you is spot on ( I really likes Steves post - LOL). The big thing you have to be thinking of is your payment. How is he going to pay you? Be very sure you get payment in U.S. funds only or the exchange rates may get you. If he is paying by check or money order be sure to check with your bank to see what their fees are for cashing foreign payment

Hi Mike, Here is the telephone number to the IRS section that handles form 720 - 1-866-699-4096. They can answer any of your 720 questions in fact they are the only ones that can help you. If you try any of the other IRS sections you will get no help and that includes getting the correct telephone number needed. It will do you well to write down this number and keep it. If you ever make an

Hi Don, I run into this all the time. Because the original price they paid for the rod they do not want to replace the all the guides. I use Perfection guides and they are usually close enough. Also I think PacBay makes a guide close to what you need. Just be sure to check and see if they are braced or unbraced guides. As for the guide size talk that over with whoever you order from, most

Hi Marty, Use "A" fie under & over wrap. Lay down your underwraps, apply a coat of epoxy finish then do the overwrap. The reason for the epoxy is so the overwrap does not does not fall down between the underwrap threads. Some people use color preserver instead of epoxy but I found epoxy easier for me.

Hi Marty, If you prep your guides properly you will not need a underwrap. You need to be sure that there are on spurs and anything else that can cause damage to the blank. On almost every saltwater rod we build we do underwraps because we like the looks of them but they are not necessary.

Hi Tom, As always you have something for everybody. Myself I'm very interested in the Scrimshaw Art. I'm hoping it's an article that will give instructions in doing and not just an article about it. Time will see if I get my wish. I have a request for articles and that is to bring back The Bamboo Corner. Maybe a new updated version. I may never build a Bamboo rod but I did enjoy thoses

Thanks Jim, that was my question. It looks as if 4 guides were place within 2 inches from the tip. I know that can't be right. It must be the distance between guides.

Hi Stanford, I have used Armor All on my rods for years. You can use it on fly line if you don't mind having the color removed from the line. Do not use it on handles because it makes them to slick to hold. No problem with silicone unless you spray aroung your rod building equipment. I maybe wrong but I feel that Armor All helps provide UV protection as I have never had guides fade on my

Hi Alex, Sorry but I totally agree with Fred. Why should you be held to any less standard then myself or other builders. When I setup my wholesale accounts I had to show my State of Maine reseller's certificate showing that the items purchased was for fishing related items as what was stated on that certificate. Some dealers also requested a copy of my Federal ID number. If you do not have
