Thanks for the advice and yes the rod would still be worth $0 as Roger mentioned but this friend would like it as close to original as possible and I will do my best. Some good tips on what to do. Thanks again for the input. Can always count on someone to have an opinion and advice.

3. restoration
Hi everyone.
A friend of mine has asked me to restore an old St. Croix rod he picked up at a flee market! Mudhole seems to have most of the components that I will need but I do have a couple of questions. I have no idea how old the rod is, the St. Croix sticker is really beat up and the only other markings on the rod is the size 6' 6", lure weight and the name Carboloy on it. The thread wo

5. Cross Wrap
Would anyone have a pattern for a fish scale cross wrap or a link to one? I have seen some great pic's online and some brief explanations but nothing detailed ie: pass by pass

6. Blank Finish
Have a question regarding the finish on blanks. A friend of mine has a spinning blank with a matt finish and he wants me to build it for him but he wants it to have a gloss finish. Can I epoxy the whole blank with a thin coat or spray it with a polyurethane before I wrap it?

Thanks to all who replied. Don and Gary I have to agree with you I like the cork the way it is but was not sure how long it would stand up if it was not treated but I will find out as it is staying the way it is. I like the feel and the looks the way it is. Thanks again for your thoughts.
