My name is Todd, and I'm an angliholic...
Greetings My Fellow Addicts,
My nieces husband wants me to build a catfish rod for his father's birthday. They live in Florida, and I live in Montana, so obviously, my knowledge of catfish is fairly limited. Any recommendations as to a blank, guides, grip, etc. I have not even begun to shop for parts yet, and have very little info as far as what siz

I had a small bottle that had the white flecks in it, and didn't even try heating it, I just threw it away. The 8 oz bottle that went white on me cleared right up when I put it in warm water..Thanks guys!!

The hardener was OK.And yes, I have cut the tips off the bottles. I will try slowly heating the resin and see what happens. Thank you Don..

I have been using ProKote epoxy and have had good luck with it, but when I opened the blue bottle yesterday, (the resin half) it was thick and white. The hardener however seemed to be fine. The cap seemed to be tight, but I had discarded the plug that comes in the bottle top. Did air get to it? It has been in a temperature controlled room, so I don't think it got too hot or too cold. This is the

6. Re: Why?
I run a charter boat on Flathead Lake in Montana in the summer, and in the winter,...well, let's just say I was bored. It started simply enough.. I ordered a kit and some basic tools, and made a rod.. Then I made another.. Then a friend wanted one..I figured one more wouldn't hurt.. All of a sudden it was January, and I was building ice rods.. Before I knew what was happening I had a habit I coul

Thanks for the input guys. Bamboo is all new to me. Bill, you suggested I do a search to see what some are going for.. Browsing around @#$%& a bit, and am not impressed with what I see as far as the prices are concerned. Am I missing something?

A friend of mine has been picking up old bamboo spinning and fly rods at some sales lately, and has offered me the opportunity to refurbish them for him. Is there anything that anyone knows that may turn this into a bad decision? ;-) Most have been stripped and the finish is very poor. A chemical stripper I assume would be the first step. What product would the final finish be? Should I use a re

I know this is an old post and I hope you found what you were looking for. I know the Dingledine family personally, and unfortunately Boyd is in very poor health and as far as I know he no longer builds rods. he lives in Northern Kalamazoo County, just north of Gull Lake.

I am with you John..It IS addicting! I am having a blast with this. And Eric, I completely understand your comment as well. I have managed pretty well so far, but they will try your patience. The cool thing though, is that you rarely see any fancy wrapping on the cookie-cutter off the rack rods, so when people see what I have been doing they are fairly impressed with it. I am enjoying using some

11. Ice rods
I am a newbie builder, and after doing one 7' medium rod for myself, I decided t try a couple of ice rods. WOW, what a difference. I am finding everything is a lot tougher with the smaller blanks. I must be doing OK with them however, because when the pictures were seen by some friends, the response was overwhelming, and now I suddenly have several to build for other people. My problem is I don't
