Hi Ray, The main drama with using the microwave set for a Barra rod is the smallish running guides that need to pass a serious knot through them, the size 5 is pushing it for clearance of the typical 30-50lb braid to 30-80lb leader knot that will be passing, if your customer ties a good fg or pr knot then it will be marginally suffice but anything like an albright knot and they won't be any goo

Hi Cameron, Over here in Australia most of our lure fishing is done with braid and mono or commonly fluoro leader, size 6 running guides should be fine with the line sizes you are using, this is fairly general practice for rods over here but microguides are becoming more popular. I dont know the j knot, but you could also look at learning the fg knot, it is a great knot for this problem. Good vi

Hi guys, in Australia our bass are typically a bit smaller than the US, generally 12-15in average and 2-3lbs, a 7lbs fish being prize on par with your double digit largemouth, i'v built good spinnerbait rods on 6-10lb sj blanks, this rod throws 1/4- 1/2oz spinnerbaits with 10lb braid as far as you will ever have to. Thanks for the advice, yeah i understand the smaller i.d needed to fit to blank size at the front of the grip. I have found the flexcoat borer spade bits and mite try to fashion something like this on a normal spade bit, with a piece of round metal material/ tube that is the same size as the i.d of the eva and hope that the point of the spade bit can follow this in to the eva while drilling. Hey guys, having only built a couple of bass rods for personal use and only used premade moulded eva, im at the point where i want to try shaping my own eva grips. Trouble being i want to put a foregrip on the fuji kskts casting seat with the kdps style front. Has anybody bored out eva with a spade bit or similar (20mm or close to that i believe) wats the best/easiest way to do this?? Che
