Hi Ray,
The main drama with using the microwave set for a Barra rod is the smallish running guides that need to pass a serious knot through them, the size 5 is pushing it for clearance of the typical 30-50lb braid to 30-80lb leader knot that will be passing, if your customer ties a good fg or pr knot then it will be marginally suffice but anything like an albright knot and they won't be any goo

Hi Cameron,
Over here in Australia most of our lure fishing is done with braid and mono or commonly fluoro leader, size 6 running guides should be fine with the line sizes you are using, this is fairly general practice for rods over here but microguides are becoming more popular. I dont know the j knot, but you could also look at learning the fg knot, it is a great knot for this problem. Good vi

Thanks for the advice, yeah i understand the smaller i.d needed to fit to blank size at the front of the grip. I have found the flexcoat borer spade bits and mite try to fashion something like this on a normal spade bit, with a piece of round metal material/ tube that is the same size as the i.d of the eva and hope that the point of the spade bit can follow this in to the eva while drilling.
