My friend who's the same age as me (62) Had a grandfather that died 25 years ago who was a rod builder. My friend gave me some blanks he found....They seem to be all fiberglass, but they are stout pool cues....and why can't I post a photo here?

Hi guys, I'm getting tired of my cheap drying motors burning out and or shaft becomes loose. I'm wanting to buy a Dayton gearmotor. Any suggestions or advice on RPM? I'm looking at a 6rpm or 18rpm Thanks in advance

I built a NOS 8-17 Shikari 7'6" with AT micro guides for inshore trout fishing and have brought in Reds, Jack and even a over sized snook. The guides are great for braid. I use 10 lb Power Pro and casts great. I never get many wind knots, always close the reel manually. I'm making another I like the guides that much. Like everything else they will be a test of time

I came across an old gent who removes his used guides and places them in white vinegar for 24 hrs. I tried this to some old Fuji dbl foots guides and they look great with just rubbing gently. I'm wondering about structurally safe? Opinions? Thanks

Dry wall mesh tape. You can get the epoxy all the way to the blank through the mesh. Have had no problems and it's cheap Tight lines !

Well I guess these wont come apart :) Thanks. It just doesn't "seem" very strong done the way you state. These blanks (Shikari) are only 1/2-3/8 butts They look lonely in these aluminum gimbals

The extra fine point sharpies are hard not to have blotching...thick/thin areas. quill pen and I use acetone to clean it. Pens are cheap. buy a few. Some work better than others. I also use acrylic ink....

Night Snapper fishing I free line the chum line.. Installing a butt gimbal on a stout but short ( 6-6.6') graphite blank. 10-25wt I've been doing it with E-glass pieces inserted in the gimbal with a ferrule inserted inside the E-glass and sand it to fit the graphite blank. This is very time consuming. I've searched here, but no joy. There has to be a better way :)

First number is ring as suggested above, Second number is the diameter of the rod tip IE: (4.5) (7.0) They sell cheap ($6.00) tip gauges on @#$%& if you need it in a hurry

I met an old gent that has me doing guide spacing by placing the blank in pvc at a 45 degree angle. Attaching the guides with thick tube rubber. running line up the guides and attaching to a 2 pound weight. reel down and adjust guides to follow arc of the blank. It has worked really well, but I seem to use a lot of guides. Say up to 9 for a 7.5 blank See any problems with this method?
