I fish Daiwa Fuego 3000A spinning reels, which have a fairly large spool diameter. The rods I have were purchased, not custom built. Could the size of the spinning reel spool relative to the size of the first guide be causing the braid to "bunch up". In other words, could the first guide be acting as a "choke point"? What was used for reaming the handle and reel seat? In other words, what did you use as the mandrel? I've not seen any reamers offered for sale that would have a large enough diameter? I'm know to this; so, I apologize if this is an obvious question.

Hi Joe,
I would like to hear anything else you might have to say about the way this rod fishes. Over the years, I've read its praises, often. I'm thinking of building one for myself. Does the large butt diameter feel awkward; or, is it something you get used to? What type of handle arrangement did you opt for? What about guides?
Thanks,

Has anyone built this rod, and, more importantly, fished it? How does it fish? It certainly has a large butt diameter, 0.78", relative to the graphite rods I have. Pros or cons of the rod?

From whom can this blank be purchased? This is probably a very basic question; but, I'm new to this.

Is the Seeker S glass blank that Rich Forhan favored for fast moving baits still available? Has something better been developed?
