I just finished a maple burl, paduka, and cork handle. I used the Waterlox wood finish on the cork and it really turn out nice. I also added some saw dust from the paduka wood to the cork before I added the finish. It gave the cork a very nice reddish color that blended with the paduka wood. My vote is for sealant... I accidentally put to much finish around a couple of guides and now it doesn't look right. How would I go about removing some of the dried finish and make it not so thick. Would I use a razor blade and shave some off or sand it down to a more reasonable size? Then put another coat of finish on??? Thanks in advance for your help... Andy

I bought a Rikon midi Lathe in January and love it. For the features that are on this lathe and the price you pay it is great.

Contacted T&T about filling the male ferrule ends with epoxy. They suggested that I use Black Gasket Compound to fill the male ferrules. Just thought you all would like to know...

Yep.. the male ferrule is what I am talking about... I will place some rod bond into it, with some pigment to match the rod. Thanks for your help. I just have never had to deal with this before, since all of the other blanks I have wrapped were never like this.. Thank.. Andy

I am currently working with a Thomas & Thomas Helix (9' 4pcs 5wt) Freshwater Blank and this is the first time I have seen a blank on any rod that has a hollow center. This is a lot different then the Pac Bay, St. Croix blanks I have used before. Usually they have solid centers or a filling within. My question is there anything that needs to be done to fill that center or do you suggest t

Just wondering if someone could explain to me how to do the flag or cross wrap patterns. I bought one of those diagram books, but it really doesn't explain to me how to start or how to "tie off" the thread. Also the few that I have tried never seem to stay tight on one end. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks a lot, Andy

Well.. I hope I am not the only one this has happened too. While my finish was drying in my drying rack a small gnat decided to place him self on the finish. I noticed it the day after.. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can remove him without damaging the wrap or blank? Thanks a lot, Andy

I was just in Kauai in April and went deep sea fishing. I went with True Blue Charters, they were excellent and we caught some nice Mahi Mahi and Tuna. They were fairly inexpensive, they had a great boat the Kona Star and the captain was very nice. As for the do they let you keep the fish? It really depends on the charter/captain. All fish caught belong to the boat. However, they normally le

It seems my last posting was lost... My problem is with my finishing coat on my wraps. It has been 3 days and the coat is not dry. Any idea why this would happen? I am using Pac Bay Finishing Glue (A and B). Any help to figure this out and get it dry would be appreciated. Thanks a lot...
