I once restored a rod for a co-worker's husband. The rod belonged to his grandfather, and he had been waiting for the right time to have it restored. I put in a LOT of work, installing new guides, and re-creating the decorative wraps. It turned out great, she and her husband were thrilled. I charged half of what I should have, and about two weeks after I was paid for the work, he lost his job

I echo the above sentiments. Once again, Lamiglas proves that it is a first-class operation with top-notch folks from bottom to top. And once again, I am reminded that there are no egos in the rodbuilding community; just people who are passionate and proud of their craft. I caught a cold on Friday, and I blew out my car's head gasket on the way to the Saturday session, which forced me to arr

Once again, Todd put on a spectacular event. The Build Your Own Blank event was great, and the seminar sessions were superb. I learned a ton and made several new friends. Many thanks to you, Todd, and to Lamiglass. What a class act! Andrew Toynbee

Does anyone know what thread would match an old Wright & McGill Denco Super II fiberglass rod? It's kind of a bright orange/light red color on the yellow blank. I'm restoring one, and some of the wraps are pristine, so I don't necessarily want to re-wrap all of the guides. Any help is much appreciated. Andrew Toynbee

When I was at Angler's Workshop in April, they had some very nice looking "flor" grade rings at what I thought at the time was a great price. I'm sorry I don't remember that price now, and they may have sold through them by now, but it may be worth giving them a call.

I second Emory's sentiments--a first class event, thanks to Todd's efforts. As much as I enjoyed the excellent presenters, I also enjoyed meeting and learning from others who share my passion for rod-building and fishing. My only complaint is that the food was too good. I had a food hangover on Sunday morning from eating so much great food. Thanks again to Todd, Lamiglas, the presen

Nothing in catalog, and although I have Dan's printout on suggested guide placements, I can't figure out which one is for the FT. I am also interested in what guide spacings the folks who have built this rod have come up with. Andrew

I'm gettng ready to build this rod, and would apprieciate anyone's guide placement measurements to use as a starting point for static placment testing. From what I've read about this rod, I'm dubious as to my ability to get the guide placments right. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Andrew Toynbee

Marc and Jeff, Where did you end up placing the guides? I am just getting ready to build this rod (FT 8'6" 3wt 4 pc) and am looking for a starting point for static placement testing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Andrew Toynbee

The blanks I used were Stowaway five-piece blanks (BEFORE I discovered this wonderful web site and decided to buy my rod-building supplies from the sponsors). I've built four rods on these blanks, and because all had Cabela's label on them, I wrongly assumed that all Cabela's blanks bore their monikker. Mike--regarding the warranty service, I sent the rod to them with a form I downloaded from

Yes, the Cabela's name appears on the blanks, and to remove it would likely void any warranty. I overwrapped the label on a couple of Cabela's 5 piece rods I built with thread, then inscribed over the threads and epoxied it. Looks great, and I had no problem when I broke the tip section and had to use the warranty. Good wraps, Andrew

Mike and/or Andrew If it's not too much trouble, I'd also like a look at the spec sheet you use. I'm hoping to develop one that can be used on a PDA. Thanks, Andrew
