Funny, guys. Buncha comedians.
It occurred to me when I saw Steve's reply and knew exactly what he meant by BLAG and BFAT that my wife might just be right about me being a great big nerd. I gotta get out more, or I'm gonna start dreaming of waking up next to a giant severed fish head (hopefully a nice sized brown) that moans at me, "BLAG, BLAG!" Or worse, "Conuuuunnnndrum!"

Okay, I'm stuck.
I've an old (pre-IPC) model St Croix Legend Ultra 2-piece, 8 foot, 4 weight blank, and I'm looking to build it with black Concept Fuji Alconites. The problem that I'm running into is two-fold (I think).
First, the tip diameter on the blank is 3.5 and I can't seem to find anyone who sells the 3.6 I.D. Fuji Alconite tip tops.

I'm an intermediate builder of graphite blanks and I've been thinking about trying to build a fly rod from one of the bamboo blanks (finished to the ferrules) that I've seen on the market. Any cautionary statements? Any opinions about the quality of various "brands" available? Is there a particular blank that you would recommend as exceptional for the cost?

Anybody had a chance to form an opinion about the new Cortland Sylk fly line? Or how about the Precision line (the one that comes in "half weights")?
I'm considering lines for a 3 wt 7'6" Tiger Eye and an 4 wt 8' St. Croix Legend Ultra (the old kind), both with Fuji Alconites.
