it usualy happen in 1st time the rod use(flex) or when we test to bend it in shop
the sound is from the guide wrap. i think because the epoxy not yet break in

Tom
i wont argue with you
but maybe there is difference in fisherman(customer) habit in US with in my country
and if you ask them about term of spine i believe in 100 customer ,0 has ever heard about it
because in here we used rod backbone term. LOL
i'm new to rod building and have read your article about rod spine above few months ago and your test in that article give me new perspective ab

10. Re: 2 spines?
1st thing fisherman do when he pick a rod from rack store is guide alignment straight or not
2nd thing they will check for guide placement are on spine or not
if a rod don't passed this two things they will put back it back and walk to another rod
this is situation on fishing shop with factory rod
and what will happen to a customer of custom rod if their rod don't match with this criteria?eit

Roger and Tom thanks for your responds
this is my methods for applying finish.
for 200mm wrap and blank's OD 14mm i mixed 0,5ml of each part(1ml in total)
i drop the epoxy with my brush randomly in entire wrap until i have nothing in my mixing pot
then i spread it lengthwise with my brush until it look "level" and then i wait for sagging and watch closely if there is dried area th

i know it strange situation
i have just made 2 decorative wrap. 1 is 8 axis chevron (open) and the other 1 is tiger wrap
the 8 axis is very smooth, i flush it with finish until it sag and turn 180degree and repeat again until no more sag
with tiger i did same thing but it can't smooth, so i sanded and recoat again with very thin finish
unfortunately i wavy again so i repeat the sanding and r

it still big problem with me in decorative wrap, no matter i sand it smoothly and evenly. when i applied finish it start to wavy again, not much but still dont get glass look specially when i see it from rod bottom /top
so i have idea to spray it with urethane after it smooth sanded.
is it acceptable?i feel it like cheat
i'll do it only at split grip section so flexibility is not the problem

as long as you get good and hard finish both methods is okay
but I prefer syringe because it's easy to use and cheap

If you have fuji japan catalog 2012
in page 22 you can see they have actual size ID and OD each ring size
and there is sizing for each frame too. to bad they dont have the anglish version for this catalog
like Col Chaseling said it can help you to choose the right micro size to start
you can download the PDF version of that catalog just google it

it all depend on action of your blank
if you build fast or x-fast you can make it all #4 or start with #6-#5 with stripper location further from reel
but in medium or slow blank i think fuji KR with #10 KW stripper closer to reel is good.because if you make stripper far away in this blank, line will touch or through below the blank between reel and stripper
it happen to me once

Forum: rodboard 11 years ago

fuji KR concept used #10 KW (double foot) guide that has height 14,6mm
amtak microwave used #20/6 stripper (single foot) and very tall, height A 28,75mm; height B 43,75mm ;height C 46,70mm. it's from their web but they didn't have any diagram to describe which one is A, B or C
I think we dont need stripper that tall in BC rod.
but like everyone said if you not try ,you never know. maybe you ca
