I’m looking to build a travel (6pc) DH fly rod for beach fishing. The casting will be overhead style.
CTS has a semi custom option for the Affinity X blank, the longest being 11’6” and 6 pieces. I can choose to have the tip stiffer or softer than the base weight, as well as the butt stiffer or softer.
I need advice as to what kind of characteristics would be best for overhead casting.

I found them overseas. They're not a sponsor to this site, so I'm not sure if I can list the name. But they're located in GB.
(note: I just sent my order, so I don't physically have the tips. I did contact them to see if they are available, and they said they were)

I've read in various posts that if choosing a single foot stripping guide for a fly rod, one should consider a high frame model. Would the Fuji KL-H guides be considered too tall? For example, comparing a sz 16 KW double foot vs the same size KL-H, the KL-H is double the height. It seems like the line angles would be better with the taller guides, but looking at complete rods from some the big

DBlue Fishing carries 4 piece, 10' travel blanks. I, too, am looking for some travel surf rods and came across their options. Only a few reviews about their rods exist, but they all are positive.
As to the Angler's Workshop travel blank previously mentioned, I just ordered their 9' blank, but it is only available as a 3 piece blank. It just shipped recently so I can't give you any impress

I think the issue lies with the fact that Shimano 2500 reels have a lot of upsweep. I switched the reel to one of my Daiwa Certates in the same 2500 size. Same thing. Too much upsweep. This size is really designed for medium sized freshwater fish and the correspondingly shorter rods. But with the rising popularity of braided or fused super lines, I find that there is no longer a need to use

Hi:
First off, I just started this hobby and this forum has been a great resource. Thanks to all who participate.
My situation is this: I'm going to try building a spinning rod (8'6" salmon blank) using Fuji's rapid choke design. The reel I'm using is a 2500-sized reel. (shimano sustain) If I use the stripper guide that's apprx half the spool diameter, that would be a size 20. Us
