I built a 10' 4wt Quickline and love it. Got it through Utmost Enterprises, which is one of the sponsors in the left column.

I'm a fan of A for guide wraps and silks for trim. Gossamer is pretty thin.

RX6 is a nice blank to start with. I'd also look at Ye Olde English Fly Shop. I love my 7'9" 3wt from there. Built one for a friend as well, they are 4 piece blanks however.

+1, I thought their previous website was very user-friendly. Have difficulty navigating their current one, though I am not a fan of downloading pdfs and scrolling through. Too easy to miss what I'm looking for.

But beyond that I like being able to tape one foot down well and wrap the other, then remove the tape and wrap that foot. With single foots I need to secure the guide foot and remove t

That'll look nice and subtle. The reverse halfwells will be great on a 5wt. When you get guides, look for tich, black, or black nickle finish and it'll all fit together well.

If you are looking for brand recommendations, look at 'snake brand' universal guides. Don't need to all the foot prep, the guides are ready to wrap and align themselves on the blank. They sell tips and stripping guides in the same finish.
