Get Billy V's book - very helpful and breaks it down into simple terms. The CD is a very powerful tool as well. Like James D said, attend a NERBs gathering if you live in the NE area. You will learn more at one gathering than you will reading all the books you can get your hands on.

Bill - If you used Chromaseal then no there is no way to get the bubbles out that I am aware of. I tried different approaches but nothing worked. Bubbles form not only from shaking the bottle but also by applying too much. Make sure you wick off the excess before it drys or you will have bubbles/white spots. Good luck but don't waste alot of your time trying to fix it since you will prob

Chris - I totally agree with Bob. Give Billy V a call or send him an email. Check out the NERBS site for his information but I'm sure he would be able to help you out on EVA blocks. Good Luck Neil

I'm fairly new to rod building - been building for about 8 months now and tired of buying cheap throw away brushes when applying rod finish. Marnie - You can't go wrong attending a NERBS gathering. I've attended a few and I can't explain how much information you walk away with. You will learn more in one day than reading all the books and watching videos on youtube. Billy is by far the most advanced rod builder I know - he is a true "custom" rod builder! First thing I would do is purchase his book (if you haven't alre

Results from testing last night to remove the bubbles: The warm / hot towel method doesn't work on Chromoseal. Once it drys it doesn't come off! I went ahead and added another coat of Chromoseal to see if maybe the coats will blend in and remove the bubbles....negative that didn't work either. Thanks for the replies. Neil

I'm new to rod building and used color presever for the first time this weekend. After doing a dec wrap with Maderia thread i put on two coats of CP, let the first coat dry for about an hour then recoated. I followed the instructions on the bottle using it liberally - may have been my problem, used too much. When i woke up Sunday morning the dec wrap had bubbles all on top of the wrap, some ma
