Problem i have with the guides is i build alot of competative SW rods where people run 20lb to 40lb Leader on their 2-4kg rods and with the 5mm guides i see issues with the leader knots, there difinately is a market for a set with minimum ring size being 8mm.

With my Stand-Up 80lb or 50lb game rods I usually use Aftco Aluminium unibutts.
However I recently noticed the Permalign aluminium unibutts while surfing the net and at first glance they look great.
I tried to look for any information about performance or trials or anything and couldn’t find a thing besides the 4 line paragraph that gets regurgitated in every place of purchase.

i uses light gear alot. and use 2lb braid for bream with sic fuji guides. the smoothness doesnt even factor into the normal cast and retrieve or it does in such a small amount as you wont notice anything, there isnt enough force acting to create serious friction. you will only see fraying like that after long fish fights (i rig after every couple of fish and in comps when i use mono i rig again e

I am building a Jigging Rod and the grips are to be made of Green American Hypalon. The problem im having is i want to match the green of the grips with a green thread. i have plenty of different shades of green thread but none of them come close enough to make me happy. would any of you experienced Rod Builders know of some Thread that would match?

I think he ment that sharpie ink reacted/disolved with the rod finish and stained the blue thread.
various rod finish reacts with certain inks something to do with the chemicals used in them, i cant help you find one that suits your application.
Usually i dont paint the guide feet at all i just pack/burnish the thread enough so the guide feet doesnt show through the thread.

Reel seat doesn’t have a logo printed or carved in it so it can 't be an aftco or alps real seat, i would say it’s an American tackle or some other brand. Most of the aluminium real seats cost around the same price $20 - 30.
Without looking at the blank i don’t know if it is a Calstar or not but it sounds like one. If it is a calstar and they didn’t shorten it in construction it would
