Roger, Can you test some of the new Hitena size A and B? They seem a lot thinner to me. I really like the thread.

Mr. Warren, Glad you are enjoying this forum and those grandsons. I too have enjoyed a career of fishing and hunting as I retired a few years ago as a state conservation officer. Shorty after retirement I got into rod building as a hobby. You and the grandboys are about to embark on a very addicting adventure. I have built all but one of my five grand children rods and enjoy fishing with them. T

Thanks Mr. Phipps. I looked at the minima's in Mudhole but did not think they would work. I got two top pieces of two piece rods with the tips broke. Owner says they came direct from Japan. Actually the 3.5 tube is a little big but I can make it work. I may need to use the minima's after all is said and done. I appreciate the info. I'm still waiting for Jeff to contact me, hoping he may have what

Gabriel, Just got a chance to use some of the sample you sent. The size A thread is a bit smaller than what I normally use but the size B is spot on. so far I'm really impressed. It's doubtful I can make it to the show this year but I encourage everyone there who has not yet got a sample to try one. I'll be watching for the color thread to come in. Thanks again for the samples and good luck at

Gerald, you might try a local sign shop. I've got one that will print almost anything you want and they are not really that expensive.

I placed a small order from Mr. Schneider Wednesday and was treated like his best customer. Got my order Friday and was surprised with free shipping. These are good folks to deal with. Thanks again Mr. Schneider.

Thanks Bob and Tom. I got a friend who smallmouth fishes in the winter and was asking about it. He did mention the corded handle. At least it got me to thinking and that is dangerous.

Some time back Jim Ising of AR sent me one of Fuji's line threaders. At the time I was not very busy in the shop and forgot about it. I finally remembered the promise I made Jim to let everyone know what I thought about it. Well, I'll be buying more of these little gizmos. For us older generation of builders/fisherman this is an ideal tool to hit those small guides. I'm going to get one for my bo

Mark, Ive got a SJ72 blank and that should make a good crappie rod. You might also look at the Batson IP 840. Ive built a sack full of those and got many happy customers. I've also built on a few MHX blanks with good luck.

Pat, You need to look at Schneiders Rod Shop, a sponser on the left side. Ron Schneider is in Mt. Home, Ark. I don't think that's to far away from you and it would be worth your time to make the trip. Ron will give you great advice and he has a lot of blanks there to hold in your hand and feel their bend and powers. Also has some on sale this month. I've always found him to be great to deal with

Ok guys here's one I'm lost on. A friend wants me to build him some crappie rods with a solid graphite handle to be used as a Tenn. handle. I have purchased several 5.75 inch arbors. Now can I glue them together with rod bond? Will they hold up to wear? Should they be coated with something to protect them? I told him I was not sure on this before I ordered the parts but he says he had one make ye
