The MHX blanks are pretty stiff for their rating... I use the 26" "Ultra Light" for walleyes all the time. Handled a 26" walleye no problem last winter along with other good sized eyes. I would never use any MHX blank for panfish. Unless they have changed there blanks or added different models over last years lineup. Bill

I called Bass Pro Shops and talked to a guy. He said they don't have weight specification anywhere on the rod. So I will just look for length and power that matches what he needs. Thanks for the replies! Bill

I have a request for a rod that would be as close as possible to a specific commercial rod that has been discontinued. It is a Walleye Anger Signature Series, Model # WA12DS-2, 12' 6-15lb Line, the blank is 40 million modulus IM6. There is no weight specifications but this gentleman is certain that it is rated 3/4-1 1/2 oz. Can anyone confirm a weight rating for this rod??? This guy is

Hi Chip, I have never sanded a blank. How difficult is it? I would be nervous about sanding it unevenly. I have a few glass blanks that the tip has a nice action but after that first 6 inches then the blank stiffens up in a hurry so if I could sand that down it would work well for my purposes. This blank is a plain fiberglass rod so my other question is about what type of paint can be applied

Thanks Randolph, Is there a way to get just a tip section of a fly rod??? Thanks Randy I am thinking about getting a few of the Janns NetCraft blanks. One thing that does cause me some grief is that sometimes it is very difficult to get a size 8 tip top that has a small enough tube size. Has anyone wrapped thread around the tip and then applied a tip top over it??? I like to do a lot of hol

Hello All, I am looking to get some ice rod blanks for Perch and Bluegills. I like the MHX blanks for walleyes but they are a little stiff for bluegills and perch. I would like to find someone who wholesales but most of all I want a quality blank that you could compare to Thornes Bros. 18-36" would ideal. Thanks, Bill

Thanks for all the information Mike and Tony. I normally fish lakes less than 30ft deep and the Missouri River in South Dakota. The river is where we normally pull cranks (which is not very often) depth ranges from 6'-25'. If we used leadcore we could probably get to 40'??? I am just getting started pulling cranks so this is all new to me. In the lakes we cast cranks and jig along weedlines an

I am just beginning with pulling plugs. We pull shad raps and shallow runners. I have never used boards of any kind. The use for 10' or 14' rods would be to get the plugs away from the boat and allow for use of an additional rod(s) so we can run 3 or 4 rods off the boat. I don't have any rods for trolling purposes and I broke a rod on a snag so I decided that it would be better to have rods just

Hello All, I have been delving into pulling plugs for walleyes. I have seen 10" to 14" trolling rods but I am not sure if I should go with a fiberglass blank or graphite. My question for all of you would be.... What kind of blanks have you had great success with and where can I get some good trolling blanks? Also for pulling with leadcore what blanks hold up to this style of fishing.
