Take a look at the Pac Bay TRMB 845 they are 7' but sounds like what you are looking for I just built one as a spinner, it has great action they also have 2 more in the line that are a little heavier. Hope this helps.

I just built one like you are discribing on a PacBay blank TRMBC845 its afast action blank great for bucktailing in the bays will handle 1 1/2oz. bucktails. I built it as a spinner I like it so much I am doing one as a bait caster will use with a Shimano Cardiff 300A reel and use it for dragging bait it will handle up to 4 ozs. of lead with no problem.

28. Surf Stick
I want to build a surf rod that I probably will only use a couple of times a year while I am on vacation. So I am looking for an inexpensive blank that will throw 4 to 6 ounces of lead and 10' long any suggestions?

I just finished a rough version of what I think is going to work for me. For the matallic thread I put my sewing machine type tensioner on for my regular threads I am using the horizontal all thread with the springs and washers.I can now work 4 regular threads and 2 matallic at once if need be. It seems to work pretty good, will post pictures when I get the finished carriage done.
