Thats interesting Roger, This is my fourth build ,and the first i've used color preserver on, did some trim wraps on the Skagit i finished yesterday and it seems you need to go about three or four shades lighter in the thread to get the color required if you are not using treated thread or preserver.........would you agree....?????????............regards Bevin

They are very interesting comments gentlemen, so you believe that the spine has very little influence on the rods action, will have a look at that when my blanks arrive from CTS

Thanks Tom and George, those comments sound interesting, so if you keep applying more coats obviously the build gets higher, does the finish change or could the second last coat be buffed up to remove the eggshell finish, building a 9'x 2wt , so lighter sound good to me........Bevin

Hi Ed, I just wet tested the 9'7'' MHX today, The kit was supplied by Mudhole and i must say i was surprised how well it casts a 7 weight forward TEENY, also tried a SHARKSKIN which did not work quite as well , The guides , 11 in total appeared to be large when the Kit arrived , but once on the rod they look fine and there are only two sizes in the snakes, I am going to test a few sinking lines o
