Daniel,
I know what you mean about the line backlashing before the lure hits the water. Usually when this happens to me it is because the rod is really loaded on the back cast. When you start the forward cast and release your thumb the initial speed of the lure gets the spool spinning faster than the lure is taking line off of the spool. Then the lure decelerates faster than the spool which

I agree with Jeff. I was in Woodland WA today too and I enjoyed the program very much. I liked the demonstrations, but enjoyed the opportunity to talk to many knowledgeable people just as much. I have made two on that color blank from Rainshadow. Gudebrod electra metallic green #9358 guide wraps with the same only in gold #9000 for trim wrap. Liked the first so well I made the second rod exactly the same. I am pretty much a novice so didnt do anything too clever but the thread made the rod rock!

I couldnt agree more!! I cant say enough about his willingness to share information or about his great craftsmanship!! However, as someone who grew up not too far from Medicine Lake, I tend to think that it may have been a desire to live in a town that gives you a choice of more that one watering hole!! Hence, he moved to the "city". :)
