Scott,
I have used it on a reel seat that I painted.
Easy application, cures hard and seems to be flexible enough for many uses.
Thanks for the sample.
More feedback as my lazy butt uses it.

Bill,
You have a microscope on your bench. What's the problem?

I did a test coat on a piece of scrap blank. So far it seems to cure as described. After 24 hrs of cure time in a cool basement (60) it is hard and seems pretty tough. Passed the finger nail test.
Tonight I coated a reel seat for a monochrome rod project.
Update later.

A nice throw rug would look nice.
Sorry, hate to kick a man when he's down. If I had a dollar for every time I screwed up, I'd be a wealthy man.

I also use a microwave turntable motor for drying. Works great.
The ones I have are six rpm, and is adequate for drying.
As far as I know all are 110 VAC. Just put a cord and plug and spin away.
You could also get all technical and wire in a switch and be the envy of the neighborhood.

Happy to hear that you are not breathing dirt.
We all heard about the basketball injury.
Heal up, and get back to your obnoxious self.
Merry Christmas, Billy

Unless you are dragging it through the forest ...
I like the way a finished blank looks. That's just the old school coming out of me.
As far as weight goes. We spend way too much attention to it. We are talking very small amounts.
I seriously doubt there's more than a small handful of members on this board that can notice the weight difference.
Any change in action will be minimal.
Just like

I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
If you are happy with the results you get now, changing will probably not improve them.
At this point, there are no miracles in epoxy. Resin & hardener and a few additives to make it do what works best for a given application.

I have used these. You wouldn't want to paint a car with them. Good atomization with the correct viscosity paint. Nice for small touch up. If you're painting a blank, I think you'd be better off with an aerosol can for stock colors. If you are blending a custom color, go for it. Just follow the instructions and you will get good results.

When is the last time your forks and spoons rusted?
Both titanium and stainless are non-corrosive and should be fine for use in saltwater.
The only caveat would be a poor grade of stainless. I doubt you have to worry about that with Alps.

The biggest problem with using a file keeping the bore straight. I have done a few fly rod grips with a rat tail file only to find a lopsided grip when slid down the blank.
It's difficult to feel the angle. The reamers are the hot ticket because they sand the full circumference at the same time. If the taper isn't what you need, adjust the reamer with tape to the desired angle.
I do use a file

John,
If you remember some of the magazine wheels of the 1980's and early 90's that had a kind of thick glossy coating...that was epoxy.
it was durable, but did yellow and would Peel when nicked or heavily scuffed.
The hot ticket now is clear powder coat. Very durable never yellows. Tough as nails.
If you have a powdercoater in your area you're in.
If not, a Google search will give you su

It really was a great time of fellowship. I don't think anyone left without learning something new. Whether a new technique, or just a different/more creative way of doing something.
At our next gathering, I hope Bill will teach on how he built a number of $100,000 rods then told his boss to "Take this job and shove it".
Thanks Bill, you always impress me.

I haven't used this brand, but I have used acrylic urethane in a number of applications.
Namely to seal wood molds for casting polymer concrete. Big molds, holding anywhere from 10 to 8000 pounds of material.
The molds held up fine for multiple uses.
I have used it to seal the Hull of wooden boats. In fact I have a 1952 Dunphy perch that is my next project.
I ran across this same product whil

That nail Polish remover is acetone with additives. Those additives are intended to "condition" the nails.
It may also contaminate your brush.
Be careful using girly stuff on your projects.

Another option is a scroll saw. Whether cutting wood or eva, you'll have excellent control. Even a new one from one of the discount tool suppliers is pretty inexpensive. You will be able to cut some wild "Billy" angles.

29. USED FOR?
A few years ago, I sold a large number of blanks to a Guy in Japan.
These were NOS Lamiglas spinning and casting blanks.
He had me cut them all to 5.5 feet.
Does anyone know what type of rod they would be used for?

I have fully coated many rods the entire length with no issues.
If you are concerned about using epoxy, use spray polyurethane. It will intensify the color and is easy to apply and/or repair when it gets nicked.
