Hello Marc, burnt cork is prepared at 300 degrees celcius which causes the granules to lose its natural characteristics , so that cork is normally more fragile with respect to any other type of cork . as to the decorative disks ( burl ) are produced with various types of granulated cork, virgin and amadia . this compound is placed pigmentation with the color you want and produces the block.

yoga blocks is made with low quality cork and the density is to low, i think after to try to do a disc this disc isn't beauty and perfect, because this blocks are made with diferent resins and low consistense cork.

light mix , dark mix or burnt, this discs are made with a special treatment, the granule cork go a special stove for burn and after that is made a block when is mixed more or less percentage of natural cork and go again at another stove. you don't need to worry about this discs but you should use a mask not only for this discs but for al cork discs, because nobody should respire the dust .

hello guys, of course good quality cork have some cost, because quality of cork bark isn't the same like 15 or 20 years ago. today is dificult produce a good disc Top Flor or Flor quality, because is needed many quantity of cork for retire a few discs, this is the reason for this high prices. i think there are some wholesalers can sell at good price, only depends how much each wholesaler
