To tell you the truth...you might be right, it could be resin? I've never dealt with a blank like this before.

It's not resin, it's a thin black wrap that is present on most of the blank. Trouble is, when you put the pieces together there's a pronounced gap between the next section and the wrap.

Do any of you gentlemen have any suggestions how to finish off one of these blanks. The blank has a wrap up to the ferrules but looks bad in my opinion. Any tricks on how to finish off these blanks so they look uniform and smooth? Thanks for the assistance. Toby Wiggins

Thanks for the help gentlemen. Not sure what to do about the CO2 possibility but the moisture I can fix. Would you guys suggest fabricating a finishing box as I've seen others do?

Do any of you have any suggestions about thread finish having a "greasy" film on it after it's cured? I've been using Flex Coat and sometimes it sets up glossy and hard and other times it sets up not quite as hard and once you touch it the gloss turns to opaque. Thanks Toby Wiggins

Good day gentlemen, Do any of you know where to purchase a polyurethane gel finish product? I've been having difficulty coming up with a consistent finish using CA glue. The CA does work wonderful, when it works for me; but I'd like to broaden my experience with various finishes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Toby

Trying to put different types of wood, plastics, antlers together. Very inconsistent results so far. U40 rod bond spotty, CA not terribly reliable. Hope that this info helps you...help me. Toby

After fighting for the past couple of weeks with various glues, some success/failures, I was hoping some of you more experienced fellows could provide me with some products, tips, hints, secrets? Thanks very much, in advance. Toby

Do you think that some of you unbelieveable craftsmen might be willing to provide some suggestions on handle finishes? What works best, most durable, easiest and hardest to work with, etc. Anything the members of this forum are willing to provide would be appreciated. Thanks.
