I bought the CL-7 and the CL-8 to build respectively a 9'6wt and a 9'9wt. I encountered different problems with these reel seats: 1- CL-8 doesn't hold well the new reel foot of my old Florida reel #55 2- CL-7 do really hold well the new reel foot of my old Florida reel #55 3- CL-7 and CL-8: fighting butt inserts are too large to fit into the reel seat. You have to turn with a lathe the external part of the insert and decrease the diameter. That way, it will fits into the reel seat. 4- CL-7: no cork grip suitable for that reel seat. You have to do your own inletted cork grip. or modified a non inletted one. 5- CL-7 and CL-8: The insert that is inside the reel seat (not the visible part) is too large and doesn t fit into the blank. The result is that you can't push your blank far in the reel seat. I believe it is not very good and could lead to blank breakeage. I like the design of these reel seats though, but I think it is too early for Pac bay to sell them on the market... Serge Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
