Too much epoxy

IJust finished a nice fly rod and it turned out pretty good, except that I got a little too much finish on the tip wrap. It has set up already (2days). How do I go about fixing this goof. Can I use heat? Profanity doesn't seem to work. Thanks,
Dave

Heat won't really do anything for you here. You could remove the wrap and redo it. Or sand off the offensive sag/run/drip and lightly recoat with another application of finish. It you are just talking about the tip, I think I would remove the wrap and do it over. In the long run it's probably the easiest and quickest thing to do.

Dave,

I think you ought to stand it up in the corner and cuss at it some more.

Before you go as far as stripping the epoxy down to the blank and re-wrapping the tip you might try this trick. First use a brand new #11 Xacto blade in a hobby knife to slice off the excess epoxy. Go almost down to the level of the wraps but don't cut into them. Then apply a thin coat of epoxy over this area--just enough to get the smooth finish you want. Good luck.

Don't forget to give it a few hand gestures as well! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks guys, I trimmed it with a razor, sanded and recoated like instructed , and it looks great. One of these days I hope I won't have to ask these dumb questions. IAlso threw in a few of Ed's hand gestures. Dave
