Just put the first coat on wraps with a gold triple inlay in scarlet #326 Gudebrod nylon main wraps. I did not use cp as I liked the color with out cp on my test wraps the best. After the LS Supreme soaked into the threads I can see all the pull thrus and cross overs under the main wrap. Will this go away after the finish cures? Of not is there anything I can do between coats? Thanks, DP Re: metallic shows thru

All you can do is try hiding it on your next rod by placing all the pull throughs on the side of the rod that the angler will not see when fishing. This happened to me and I changed my method of inlays to make this less noticeable. Rather than making 3 inlays spaced x turns apart, I just wrap the 2 threads together for a couple of turns. I also keep the metallic under teh Nylon to a minumum (I cut it off after 2 turns) - and it is barely noticeable. If it is a rod where you choose to make an underwrap, make the inlay the same as the underwrap and you'll never see anything. Re: metallic shows thru

I have seen this problem many time on factory rods where no CP was used to keep the thread from soaking up the epoxy and changing colors. I don't know of anything that you can do at this point but live with it or cut the wraps off and start over. I personnaly always us CP if I am using metallic thread trim bands. If you use the method mentioned above (keep the tie-offs short and on the bottom side of the rod) it will not look bad. Actually, it kind of shows off your work, in a sense. I do rods with garnet and silver inlays, the first rod I did, I was worried, but the customer thought it looked fine and even liked it. Said it kind of showed the intricacy of the process. Just keep the tie-offs short and straight (make sure there is no slack in the thread underneath). I have found many times the things I notice, are never noticed by customers. I still struggle with this because I will not let a rod go to a customer until we are BOTH satisfied. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
