metal turning

considering buying a small metal lathe to make ferrules and slideing bands for reel seats, is any one else trying it and is it cost effective. thanks

It is cost effective only if you turn enough of them to offset the $400 or so cost of even an inexpensive and small machine lathe. The Taig, Sherline and some of the small imports such as the Grizzly will all do what you want.

I have not done it yet, but am going to. Wanted a lathe anyway. I figure I will have about $1200 or a little more and about 1 month in the first seat. Is that cost effective compared to Venneri's masterpiecies for $60 apiece? Probably not, but still it seems fun to do.
