Here are the details: old Lamiglas S-Glass SWR631M, (a 5' 2" blank) glued to a Fuji LSH grip (that is the two piece grip that is still the most comfortable to grip). Insert Shamino 2000 sized spinning reel and line the spool shaft on a straight counter. It would appear to intersect at the tip of the rod! I am considering two options. 1. Just put the choke guide 29" from the top, because that looks about right. 2. build up the back of the seat a bit to get the reel centerline pointed down the rod. Opinions? The length from reel seat to tip is 5' 2". Re: Locating Choke Guide on rebuild

Both are good solutions. Then again, if the intersection point is right at the tip, so be it! Just work you guides out to there and your intersection point will be the tip top. Nobody says you can't do it that way. Remember that we would like to have the reel and the line path determine our spacing and sizing, so if that's how it works out, fine. But the other options can be good too. You can angle the reel if you'd like, but be careful not to reduce the clearance between your fingers/hand and the spool rotor or bail. I've made that mistake and my knuckles took a beating. And sure, you could arbitrarily locate a choke point a bit farther back and just implement the system from there. Mono bends pretty easy and it'll work okay. Play around with it some and see what works best. I'd be interested to know how you make out with tilting the reel. I'm still doing some experimenting with that myself. ............ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
