reel seat for 2 wt.

I am building a 6'-6", 2wt flyrod. I have seected by blank and am now assembling conponents. I am thinking that the most appropriate reel seat for this rod would be a cork one with sliding bands. Do you agree or disagree and why. I am looking for advise and suggestions. Also where can I get such a cork reel seat?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Herb

REC Components.

Also check out using a Robert Veneeri small cap and ring seat. Roberts seats are quite nice!

I just built a very similar rod and chose a Bellinger DLSB for the stick, in a nice maple burl. Light, good diameter, great price, and IMHO better standard woods than the REC lines, with which you start with a standard impregnated insert and pay upcharges for anything beyond that

Both the above are good choices but you can also use the cork one if you choose to. I used it on my 6'6" 3 wt and my 7'6" 1 wt rods. I got mine from Hook & Hackle (www.hookhack.com). So far they've held up real well although I have noticed some indentations on them where the slide rings grip the reel foot. These often go away if I don't fish for about a wekk or two but also don't create any problems. The good thing with the cork is that I doubt the rings will ever work loose and slip whereas I was afraid that might happen with the wood seats--FlyDoctor

After trying lots of seats I don't think you can ever go wrong with a Fuji. Mount it with the graphite foam arbors and it is as light as a cork seat but never lets go.

I like the struble U-17 or 14, can't remember now, but it is the one with the solid butt section of threads (not really a two piece design, have a very little rubber plug to put in the end). Not as light as the some above but a very nice small diameter seat.
