travle casting rod suggestions

I have a person looking for a travel casting rod to be made. He is asking for a 6-6 rod but doesn't want the sections to be more than 24", which would really stipulate a 6-0 rod and be 3 sections. He wants it to be med to mh action and wants a higher moduals blank. Can I get some help with some suggestions of blanks for this rod. Also was thinking, if there was a way to make the rear handle removeable, then I could get it to be a 6-6 rod.

It seems to me to be a 4piece for 6' 6''. Ralph

Michael,

Keep in mind that while a 72" (6') rod divided by three is 24", the actual lengths will be a ferrule length (about 2") longer than that. You need a 4 pc rod for certain.

I don't know of any 4 pc blanks to fit your application. Fly blanks come in 4 pc, and you can get them with a med-hvy power, but not in that length. Possibly an 8'6" 5 pc rod, drop the butt, and trim to exact length. You'd need about an 8-10 wt or so to be a decent 1/2 oz rod though. And I don't know you'll get it in high modulus for under $200.

Thanks,
Rick

AllStar makes a couple of 6'6" higher mod rods in 3-piece MH actions. I think in both the Titanium and IM10X series. I think the built length would be more like 28" per section, but it sounds like they would fit the bill otherwise. I built the 7' fast action in the Titanium travel series and it will cast like a rocket.
