I am going to build a 9' 7 wt. rod, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on reel seats and guides. I have used the REC reel seats before, and think they look great, but was wondering if anyone had any further suggestions. I was also considering using the new REC recoil guides, but know very little about them. I was also looking for suggestions on stripping guides? I normally just buy a guide set adn am done with it, but I am willing to spend a little more this time around. Thanks for the help. Steve

I definitely agree with Woodman on the guides. If you're going to be using a 9ft. 7wt., then you'll likely need to shoot a fair amount of line. Get a set of Fuji SIC/Titanium guides, and use the multiple stripper set-up he suggested. It's pricey, but IMO, well worth it.

As far as seats go, REC makes great stuff. I also use their seats quite often. On a 7 wt., though, I might opt for something a bit lighter than NS with wood insert. I like the H & H aluminum seats with woven graphite spacers. You can get it in any number of color combinations. They seem fairly tough, and very light. Another (much cheaper) option is the indestructible Fuji graphite spinning seat--definitely not "traditional", but if you're already using Fuji guides, it kinda' matches.
