I wish to express special recognition to Tom Kirkman and RodMaker Magazine for making Don Morton’s Conclave 2002 a great success.

Because of the role I played in the planning of Conclave 2002, it became apparent our work was made easy by the super work that Tom Kirkman did in developing Conclaves 2000 and 2001 for The Custom Rod Builder’s Guild, Inc. (Guild). The Tom Kirkman precepts implemented in planning the Guild’s first two Conclaves served well in the planning of Conclave 2002.

Yesterday alone, I received calls from two additional manufacturers who want to immediately start contributing to the success of the Guild. One maufacturer said this was based on super enthusiastic reports of Conclave 2002 they have received. Last week there were similar calls.

I am very grateful for the effort and support Tom Kirkman has provided the Guild.

I know that Tom has been active in rod building for many years. But since he has become involved publicly in the past few years it sure seems like the information exchange between rod builders and with good facts has exploded. A coincidence?
