HELP... with pac bay power wrapper

so, I got the power wrapper a few weeks ago... from the very beginning, I have be hearing a hi-pitch squeeking noise coming from the spool tension device (STD). I have unscrewed it almost all the way to the end, there is hardly any tension on it at all, however, when I am using power, I get that noise and the thread comes out tight, then loose, and tight and over and over and the thread actually turns different shades as Im going because of how tightly and loosely the thread wraps. very unsitely..

anyway, I have heard there are problems with the STD that comes with the wrapper. anyone have any fixes for this or ideas on how to upgrade so I wont have this problem?

I need this fixed as I have like 10 rods to get done and I keep trying to fix it to no avail.

thanks in advance.

DAve

What kind of thread are you using? For some reason the pac bay wrapper likes gudebrod thread. When ever I use rice thread the STD makes a squeeking noise like it is screaming.

Hi Dave,

What you are describing sounds like the thread tensioner is not working properly. Please give Eric or myself a call at (800) 272-2229 and we will either figure out what is wrong or replace your tensioner if needed.

Dave, I had the same problem with mine. The supplier ended up giving me the tensioner off of thier personal machine. It appears that the spring does not get the proper temper when it is made or the clear coating that the tensioner has on it sticks the parts so they do not move freely. Other than that my machine has worked great for the past 4 years.
