extend a scIV?

Do I or don't I? I think the perfect rod for the type of drift fishing I do for 2-10# browns and rainbows would be a10 foot 6 wt fly rod made into a spinning rod (just ticking along the gravel bottom with a 1/8th - 1/4 ounce weight, 6 pound leader). Well, I have a 2 piece 4F906 blank, and I am considering extending it an additional foot. Is this sacrilegious? Will I burn in @#$%& for doing this to this beautiful blank? Are there fish in @#$%& to make this worth it if I decide to go ahead? Seriously, would I be sacrificing sensitivity if I did this? As I have never extended a rod before, I would appreciate any suggestions about how to go about this. P.S., the search I did didn't show up much other than talk of the article in RodMaker - which I will order. Thanks, Dave Re: extend a scIV?

seems like that rod might be a little fast for that application. wouldn't a SCII or SCIII work a little better, not to mention being cheaper? Re: extend a scIV?

Extending it will make the action even faster. That may be a good thing, or bad, depending on what you're after. ........ Re: extend a scIV?

What do I want. Hmmmm. The casts I make are more like little flips that go 30-60 feet. I want a light, crisp rod that will telegraph any pickups of the bait, which is why I use a sliding rig (dropper) attached to the main line for the weight. I keep a tight line, and as many of the pickups are subtle and I have to be differentiated from the ticks/hangups as the rig moves along the gravel, I want a sensitive rod that will help me to detect these subtle differences. When I think I have a pickup, I want a rod that I can set the hook with a crisp snap up of the wrist. With a 6 wt rod, I think that it will have enough backbone to handle larger fish, but is not overly stiff such that I am continually breaking fish off the 8 pound mainline or the six pound leader. By extending the 4F906 blank a foot to generate a 10 foot rod, I think that I will have a foot more rod to flex without sacrificing crispness or sensitivity (compared to a softer action rod) to handle the times when a bigger fish (e.g., 10# +) hits.
